Shaylen Amanda Broughton (SAB) is a native of Richmond, Virginia, whose work explores the depths of human awareness. She depicts it by delving deep into black bottom oceans; ascending curiously towards infinite stars; and ultimately discovering the divinity and infinity within it all. Particularly, she works to convey the relationships between emotional memory [in which we find significance], and the physical world [in which we find presence]. Through bold, colorful expression, she captures the spiritual experience that is eagerly evoked from sense of place.
Broughton received her B.F.A. in Interior Design, from The Savannah College of Art and Design, in the year 2011. She spent two years working as Hospitality Designer for a large, Richmond-based design firm. While working there, she still followed her bliss, continuing her hand at painted canvases. The simplicity of painting was a stark contrast to her career, as it contented her creative process while humbly revealing her talent to prospective buyers. In 2013, after finding an additional creative outlet, she co-founded CASACREATED, LLC (www.casacreated.com) with her husband, Chris Broughton. The company constructs thoughtful, artful and practical décor from salvaged materials and the studio is located in Richmond, Virginia.
"As a printmaker, I am drawn to the challenges and surprises inherent in the form: planning each layer of the image; carving, cutting, and building up the printmaking plate; and finally inking and pulling the print. I also like experimenting with other media such as drawing, painting, fiber, book art, and mixed media.
My inspirations include nature, paper crafts, toys, comics, and children's books. Some of my favorite artists and illustrators are Gustav Baumann, Edward Gorey, Peter Sis, Tove Jansson, Arnold Lobel, and Beni Montresor." -Aijung

Sit Pretty's main goal as an artist is to share her passion for art with all and to help them to be able to create art themselves. Adrienne Jensen developed a paint by numbers series of Richmond landmarks to encourage fellow Richmonder's to tap into their own creativity!

Orange will be hosting an open house Saturday, March 14th, to raise funds for the family of Noel Santos; a husband and a father of three who passed after a tragic bus accident. A portion of all sales will help this family going through their loss. The event will be held from 5pm-7:30pm. We are anxious to help this young family, and would love if everyone stopped by and helped support or cause!
